So many good reads!

How to Pack Books

Most of us have too many sitting around that we probably won't ever touch again. So, the first thing you should do is sort through all of your books and decide if there are any that you want to donate or sell. This is a good time to edit your collection and take only what you really want to keep.

Box Size & Prep
Let's talk boxes. The size should be small and sturdy because the overall weight will be quite heavy once it's packed. Be kind to yourself and your movers and do not use large boxes and fill them with too many books. They"ll be back breaking! Secure the bottom of the box with tape, down the middle and along any edges to provide support for the weight of the books. Line the bottom of the box with a cushion of newspaper or similar packing paper.

Filling the Boxes
Find and group books of similar size to pack in one box. Slide in one book, placing it bound/spine side up, then alternate the next with spine side down. Continue so that every other one is spine side up. Once you have filled up the box with as many books as possible, fill the gaps with crumpled newspaper or packing paper. Close and seal the box tightly with tape.

Rare Books
If you have rare books, you will need to pack these with special care. Wrap them individually with packing paper to protect them properly.
