6 Tips to Make Your Move-In Easier

The day of your move is super chaotic, right?! Organizing a few things in advance can help you get things moving with a bit more ease. Our ideas don't take a whole lot of time to prepare, but may save you some headache once you get to your new home.
  1. Before you dismantle your TV or or computer, photograph the electronic setups in the back. This will serve as your quick reference guide for how to reassemble them in your new home. Let's be honest, you'll want that WiFi and Netflix available right away!
  2. Photograph any room or layouts that you worked hard to perfect. This will also serve as your guide if you want to recreate it in your new home. For example, did you love the way you decorated your bookshelves? Or do you want your kids to help set up their own rooms on the other end? This will certainly help them.
  3. Do NOT pack your toolset into a box that goes with the movers. We suggest you put it in your car so that you have access to it whenever you need it, as soon as you get to the new home. Who knows when you may need a hammer or screwdriver?!
  4. Consider putting a mattress bag on your mattress in order to protect your mattress during the move. Another option is to put old fitted sheets on both sides of the mattress in order to protect it. Our next suggestion: Make your beds should be high on the priority list once you get to the new house. Include your sheets and bedding in your Essentials box/bag for move-in day. You will definitely want to be able to crash without the hassle at night. Who wants to be looking for bedding in boxes when you're exhausted?!
  5. Essentials bags and box for moving day: You need to consider each person in your house for this one. First, pack a clear plastic bin/box of household basics like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, lightbulbs, chargers, cutlery, plates, paper towels, baby and pet food. Point this out to your movers so that they can pack it last, or just pack it on you own before the movers arrive. Now, consider everything that each person needs for an overnight stay. Pack a bag for each person so that you have whatever they might need once they get there: pajamas, toiletries, medicine, extra set of clothes, glasses, etc.
  6. Pack all your high valuables like cash, passports and other important documents on your own.
